Munna Creek Country Music Festival cancelled after 11 years
It’s with much sadness we announce the permanent cancellation of the Munna Creek Country Music Festival.
Lynda Hansen is known for her beautiful, clear vocals and is passionate about country music. She sees her talent as a way to connect with everyday people and give something back to the community. Lynda loves reaching out to her audience with a beautiful ballad.
Lynda was born on the Sunshine Coast growing up on a dairy farm in the hinterland area. As a child she loved singing and there was always music in their home with her brother Glyn, Dad Kevin and Mum Verlei all being musical. She has been involved with local country music clubs on the Sunshine Coast and now in Gympie and is a Life Member of the Maroochy River Country Music Club.
She met her husband and bass player Neil Hansen through performing at country music clubs. They have performed together as a duo as well as private functions on the coast.
When their two children were teenagers they formed a band called Dangerous Goods – with Lynda on guitar and vocals, husband Neil on bass guitar, son Scott on lead guitar and drums, daughter Kristin on vocals with friend Lee Kirby on vocals, lead guitar and drums. They played at local coast venues as well as in Tamworth and Chinchilla, always having a load of fun.
Lynda was a regular at Desree Crawford’s Noosa North Shore Country Music Weekends for 15 years and performed alongside people like Desree Crawford, Barry Thornton, Olive Bice and Evelyn Bury. Lynda toured New Zealand with Desree and a group of Australian entertainers in 1997 playing at numerous venues and festivals. She again toured New Zealand in 2006 with a group of local Sunshine Coast entertainers teaming up with several New Zealand entertainers and musicians.
In 1996/97 she recorded a song Out on the Town on the Birubi label as part of Queensland Country Showcase, receiving airplay for the song in Australia, New Zealand and France. She was in the full list of nominations for Female Vocalist section in the 1998 Country Music Awards at Tamworth for this song. She also recorded an album of covers in 2003 and hopes to record some original songs soon.
Lynda performs with Neil and Scott as The Hansens and is a regular performer at fundraisers for Children’s Cancer Research.
